>> History

Meeraner Dampfkesselbau GmbH originated from the company F. L. Oschatz - a tinsmithing and ironware trading company founded in 1853. It became a registered company on May 17, 1862. Meeraner Dampfkesselbau GmbH itself has developed to one of the most important steam boiler engineering companies of Germany.

After having been expropriated and converted into a nationally owned corporation (VEB) by the former GDR government in 1948, the company was involved in numerous national and international power plant construction projects (such as the large power stations of Hagenwerder, Boxberg and Lippendorf in Germany, waste heat boilers for China and dust and bagasse boilers for Egypt). On 29 June 1990 Meeraner Dampfkesselbau GmbH, which had just been reformed, was taken over by Lentjes AG.

From 1993 until 2002 Meeraner Dampfkesselbau GmbH became part of the Babcock-Borsig group as an independent company.

Meeraner Dampfkesselbau GmbH continued its traditional steam boiler engineering business as a privately held company in 2003 in Meerane.

On 1st July 2007 Meeraner Dampfkesselbau GmbH became part of the Hitachi Group. Hitachi Power Europe, a power plant construction company with its administrative headquarters in Duisburg, took over the majority of the traditional boiler engineering company Meeraner Dampfkesselbau GmbH.

On 1st August 2009 Meeraner Dampfkesselbau GmbH founded a design and engineering branch located in the Hitachi Power Office in Duisburg.
